I see a brown bird and blue bird side by side.
Like the earth and sky in a dual flight.
They land in my oak tree side by side,
Brown and blue eggs to warm and tend.
My life here on this land beneath the sky
Is like the trees where the eggs lie.
Two birds so different yet so much alike
Work together to add balance to life.
They are the ying and the yang
In the rhythm, song and dance of life.
They bring hope and wonder surrounding
Me -- over, behind, under and around.
These birds care for their nests so hidden and soft.
Nothing’s too grand for their little tree loft.
“Why can’t I help,?” I ask down below.
No answer. No sign. Not even a nod.
While the bluebird is like my glorious sky
And the brown like the firm ground I stand,
The birds are just birds with jobs they do.
That’s their sign: Don’t think. Just do.
